As mentioned in my 2009 goals, I’m going to begin public speaking and have decided to start by teaching a six-part class at my local church titled “Understanding the Economy”.
The class is on Monday nights and the third class was on Monday night. To share this class with my readers, I’m writing an article after each class to summarizing the class.
Introduction
This six-part class is not just about the economy from an economist’s point of view, but from a Christian worldview with a prophetic understanding that we are living in the last days before the return of Jesus.
The primary theme of this class is to help people understand that the global economic crisis is part of Gods plan and He is in complete control. He will sustain us. We shouldn’t panic, and instead should get ready to help many people - the Church will need a tremendous response.
The title of the class was; Part 3: “America must fade from prominence as a superpower (prophetic)”
The Class
Studying bible prophesies is like a lost art that nobody pays much attention to anymore. The majority of Christian churches today stay away from teaching about bible prophesy for a number of reasons. First, they don’t have time to study the outer edges when most of their people don’t even understand the basics. And second, the cultural shift in Christian churches today has been to be more ‘seeker’ friendly, which means ‘dumbing down’ the teachings. Prophesy can be highly controversial and therefore cause people to get upset and leave the church, heaven forbid a church could lose some income and not be able to fund its next building project.
In my case, I’m not trying to build a church or fund a building project, therefore I can dive into biblical prophesies relating to economics and the last days before the return of Jesus with little restraint.
In this class, I explained what three important prophetic scholars are saying today in relation to the economy.
- Joel Rosenberg – prophetic scholar
- Hal Lindsey – prophetic scholar
- Harold Eatmon – prophet of today
Joel Rosenberg
Joel has written a series of novels in the last decade, in which many of his stories have come to be reality. The reason his fiction stories have come to true is because he based his stories on bible prophecy. Joel’s novels landed him on the New York Time's best-selling list.
Now, I’m not much for fiction, so I read his non-fictional book, “EpicCenter: Why the Current Rumblings in the Middle East Will Change Your Future”.
In this book, Joel explains how the current world events line up with biblical prophecies related to Israel and the Middle East. The central theme of the book is the literal fulfillment of the prophecies of Ezekiel chapters 37-38. Joel shows us that Ezekiel 38:9 says that Israel will eventually face overwhelming odds and no other nation will help them. Only God will save them. This means that America will either no longer be able to help Israel or no longer be willing to help Israel.
In Matthew 24:33-34, Jesus said “when you see all these things, you can know his return is very near, right at the door. I tell you the truth, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place” Jesus described ‘all these things’ in Matthew 24 and Luke 21, including the rise of false prophets, wars, famines, earthquakes, persecution of believers and the rebirth of the state of Israel which has occurred in 1948.
Hal Lindsey
Hal has been a prophetic scholar for 50 years, becoming famous with his book “The Late Great Planet Earth”
A few months ago, Hal gave an update of his findings on his weekly video address, which I have written about in an article a few weeks ago so I’m not going to repeat it, but you can re-read what Hal said here.
Basically, Hals understanding of Daniel 2:41-43 is that America must fade from prominence as a superpower and power must shift to revival of the Roman Empire which is the EU.
Harold Eatmon
Harold Eatmon has been in ministry for 40 some years and believes that the spiritual gift of prophecy is active and relevant today. He has an active prophetic ministry in which he has given some dozy prophecies with respect to the economy a few years ago, that are now coming true.
In Summary
The book of Daniel describes the fourth world empire as the re-birth of Rome, just as Hal described. America is not mentioned as a world power in the days before Jesus returns. Russia and its alliance with the Muslim nations, China, Israel and EU are all prophetically positioned as powerful nations just as recent events have transpired. The anti-Christ is also prophetically positioned to come to power in the midst of a global economic crisis, just like the current situation.
In the years ahead, the true voice of the Lord is going to be harder to find and much more expensive as Christian persecution increases around the world and drives Christians underground (as Jesus prophesied in Matthew 24:33-34). False prophets will also increase as they have been for many years, adding further confusion to make it next to impossible know what it really going on. Yet, world events will continue to unfold just as prophesied.
If you still live in a nation that allows Christian teachings, be thankful and take this opportunity to realize that Jesus is the only real King of this world who is coming soon to establish his kingdom on earth. Jesus is the only true God. If you do not believe in Jesus, you will eventually be destroyed. There is no other option, no other name under heaven (Acts 4:12) that God has given for man to reconcile our relationship with God – and the wages of sin is death.
